Banu Çolak
Banu Çolak is an artist and mindfulness practitioner whose work is rooted in the exploration of nature and human connection. Primarily focusing on painting, her practice investigates the complex interplay between the natural world and its human impact. She holds a PhD in Fine Arts from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, and furthered her studies in Art Theory at Central Sain Martins in London, UK.
With over a decade of experience teaching in universities, Colak has had a significant impact on the academic landscape, particularly as an Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises, Zayed University, Abu Dhabi.
Her artistic practice delves into how humans engage with and perceive both urban and rural landscapes, as well as architectural spaces. In her paintings, she explores the emotional connections we have to these spaces, reflecting on how memory and movement influence our sense of place.
Colak’s work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is part of both private and public collections across the Middle East. She currently lives and works in the UK.
